A picture of me

I was highly skeptical, but now I'm a believer.

“I was highly skeptical, but now I’m a believer.”

That’s a phrase I find myself constantly repeating in recent conversations about LLMs and AI and it turns out, I’m far from alone! I’ve heard/read variations of this statement multiple times in the past few weeks.

About Luca Lanziani

Hi, I’m Luca

I help engineering teams use AI in development in ways that actually improve delivery—not just how fast someone can write code.

That work sits at the intersection of AI Engineering, Platform Engineering, and software delivery. I care about the full path from intent to production: specs, agent workflows, review, integration, testing, deployment, and who owns the result when it’s live.

What I Do

I’m Head of DevOps and Platform Engineering at Nearform. I work across client delivery, platform strategy, and technical leadership—staying close enough to production that the advice still matches reality.

My platform and DevOps background is what I build on for AI Engineering work: workflows, development platforms, review systems, automation, and clear ownership so AI-assisted development is useful in real organizations—not just in demos.

I’ve worked remotely since 2015. That pushed me toward explicit process, written context, and strong team interfaces. Those habits matter even more when people collaborate with AI agents.

What I Focus On

The AI-native SDLC — How teams move from idea to shipped software when agents are part of the workflow, not a side tool.

Spec-driven development — Specs as the interface between human intent and agent execution. Clearer specs mean less ambiguity, better output, and easier review.

DevOps and delivery — Small batches, clear ownership, automated checks, fast feedback, and production accountability. The fundamentals still matter.

Still writing code — Management doesn’t mean stepping away from the terminal. I stay hands-on—lately in Go, agent runtimes, LLM providers, and workflow experiments—so I don’t lose touch with what teams face day to day.

Beyond Code

I’m based in Italy. When I can, I play guitar and sing—my way to unplug from terminals and dashboards.

Let’s Connect

I’m always interested in connecting with people who care about making AI-assisted software delivery more reliable, governable, and production-ready. Whether you want to talk about AI Engineering, platform engineering, spec-driven development, remote leadership, or production delivery.
