Rolling out AI without understanding the risks is a recipe for a PR disaster (or a lawsuit). Here is your 30-second cheat sheet on AI Governance terms. 👇 Shadow AI 🥷 When employees use unauthorized AI tools (like using personal ChatGPT accounts) for work without IT’s permission. This is the #1 cause of data leaks right now. Data Leakage 💧 Accidentally exposing sensitive company info (strategy docs, code, customer lists) by pasting it into a public AI model, which might then train on that data. Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) 👮 A workflow design where a human must review and approve the AI’s output before it is finalized. Rule: Never let AI auto-send emails to clients, or code to production, without HITL. Bias ⚖️ When an AI generates prejudiced results based on flaws in its training data (e.g., a hiring bot that favors one demographic over another). Explainability (XAI) 🧩 The ability to understand why an AI model made a specific decision. Note: Critical for regulated industries (finance, healthcare) where “The computer said so” is not a valid legal defense. Deepfake 🎭 Synthetic audio or video created to look exactly like a real person. (Watch out for C-suite voice impersonation scams). Move fast, but don’t break trust. 🛡️
